Parts of Twitter’s source code used to run the social media platform have been leaked online, the company said in a court filing.

In a legal document filed Friday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Twitter demanded that Github, Microsoft’s Internet hosting service for software development, remove the code from the site it was hosted on, The New York Times reported. first reported.

Github indicated on its website that it has since complied with Twitter’s request to remove the post.

Twitter reported that the leak included “[p]proprietary source code for the Twitter platform and internal tools.” The platform also said that the code was shared without permission by a user named “FreeSpeechEnthusiast” and requested that the court identify the person.

The social media giant has requested a subpoena from Github to disclose information regarding the leak.

Releasing the source code violates Twitter’s copyright, the San Francisco-based company said in a statement.

The leak comes after CEO Elon Musk bought Twitter last year for $44 billion, although he now estimates the platform is worth less than half that amount as the company coped with advertiser withdrawals.
